Final 3rd year Furniture Project -

'The sofa is now used for many different tasks, such as working, eating or reading, however, people often find themselves in very awkward positions whilst trying to carry out these tasks.
The ‘Tasking sofa’ is a mid-century and Danish inspired design, updated with a contemporary finish and a versatile surface to support the development in the way people use seating for various tasks. The split/folding cushion creates a shorter distance from the edge of the sofa which therefore generates a more ergonomic position to work from and discourages slouching when carrying out work. Foam on this ‘tray side’ of the sofa is denser than the foam on the rest of the sofa – this is because a firmer seat is more ergonomic when working.
The swivel out surface/tray is simply pulled out towards you until it is at the desired position and then slid/pushed forwards or backwards depending on how close you want the surface. Finally the sofa is finished with button details and Scandinavian style tapered legs.'
