When I began working as a freelance designer in 2011 I was doing so under the name “Circa Circa Design”. The name came from my original Etsy shop where I sold handmade goods to family and friends. Because the name had less to do with the fact that I was a designer and more to do with my personal history and love for making things, it made sense to design a brand that represented my personality as well. Using the implied imagery of a black cat peering out at you from the darkness, I created a logotype that was serious yet fun, obvious yet subtle, and heavily conceptual yet minimal when it came to design. I consider all of these contradictions to be an accurate representation of my personality as a designer.
