BRIEF
The Del Paso Words on Walls project partnered 5 local poets with local 5 designers to create a unique temporary public art piece that reflects and inspires the community. The goal of the project is to foster and reinforce the Del Paso Boulevard Partnership’s goal of becoming Sacramento’s premier design district.
SOLUTION
When creating this mural, I chose a specific line in the poem to be the focal point. The wall on Arden and Del Paso was a really large canvas to work with so I wanted to make the quote span the entire wall. Letting the brick show through, each letter had to be thick enough to pop from the red. The blue offset makes the yellow stand out and also complete the triadic color scheme. The custom script allowed me to play with ascenders and descenders to really lock the entire saying together as a composition instead of just a simple line of type.
