Hagia Sophia is one of the most notable architectural accomplishments in the Byzantine period. Designed by Anthemius of Tralles and John Singer Sargent in Constantinople, which is known as Istanbul nowadays. Hagia Sophia is regarded as the first church built by Constantinople in 360 AD, and was destroyed after that in 404 AC and rebuilt by Theodosius in 532 AD, and completed by the emperor Justian in 527 AD. Besides, it is well-known for its architectural features, such as domes, pendentives, and arches, reflecting the characteristics of that period's architecture.
