Starting from the etymology of the word CILENTO, although it is not certain and has several "proposals", I decided to take into account the most accredited one, that is the theory of the CIS-ALENTUM. This is the linguistic formulation indicating the lands further on from the Alento River (ie placed on the east of the river basin). The coinage is attributed to the Benedictine monks. The hypothesis of Cis-Alentum has lead, in time, to the development of another acceptation, which identifies Cilento in the etymology Circum Alentum, enclosing the territories orbiting along the Alento's basin, limited to the upper and central part.

Referring to these notions, I tried to play with the word CILENTO, eliminating some of the letters and precisely the letter L and the letter E, so the result would be cinto (enclosed). Enclosed, just like Cilento, which is enclosed (embraced) by natural walls such as the sea and the mountains that protect the beauty of this land and the goodness of its products. It should be imagined as an enchanted garden protected by nature itself. Once I have found the word that could express the sense of this land and its products, I added an accent on the last letter in order turn a common word (cinto) into a unique brand CINTÒ.
