I had a lot of fun designing a mock application that combines the functionality of ScreenToGif and Windows Snipping Tool.
The application uses Fluent design aesthetics, which are a set of design principles that help create a consistent and modern user experience across Microsoft products. Enjoy!
Here are a few steps I took in my design process.
Research: I have been using both applications for a while now. Part of my research was to understand the strengths and challenges of each application. This exercise focused on the aesthetics of the applications and ignored some of the UX challenges.
Brainstorming and Concepts: I came up with a few different ideas, but eventually settled on a design that I thought would be the most appealing.
Finalizing the design: Part of this exercise was to make sure that the application was consistent with the Fluent design principles and that it was easy to use, appealing, and had a good sense of visual hierarchy.
