The activity of creating something for ourselves is both challenging and rewarding. The major challenge lies in the power of self-abstraction required to perform an unbiased assessment of our work. The creation process becomes even more demanding when we strive to conceive a synthesized graphism able to faithfully symbolize our identity.
I chose a set of keywords that summarize my brainstorming process:
Frame – Time – Motion – Pixel – Digital – Graphics
Since my college times, my work process has been inspired by the principles summarized in a quote from a brilliant Canadian director and animator:
"Animation is not the art of drawings that move but the art of movements that are drawn.
What happens between each frame is much more important than what exists on each frame".
Norman Mclaren
The idea for the personal logo emerged through a collection of drawings and ideologies that have been accompanying me over the last few work years. Everything started at the basic unit of animation production – the frame. It is largely represented in softwares by the square geometric shape, in a 45 degree angle – like a diamond. Following McLaren’s idea, how could I represent a half frame? Perhaps by a half square…
My passion for this field has literally tattooed myself. I have a tattoo depicting the media control icons, which, according to my viewpoint, generically represent the video/animation field and have a parallelism with the meaning of life. Rewind - The Past, Play - The Present, Fast Forward - The Future.
Maybe I could also introduce my name initials in the logo… After spending a lot of time in hard thinking, striving to create a graphism able to represent myself, I accomplished my mission.
