Identity: Bokfabrikken – Printhouse for Self Publishers

BRIEF:
AIT Grafisk is an experienced Print House that print books for big publishers in Norway. The last few years there has been a growing trend of self publishing. AIT Grafisk wanted to have a sub-brand created called Bokfabrikken, focusing on helping the self publishing authors. The Print House only print on sustainably sourced paper.

SOLUTION:
Authors often think of their book as ”their baby”, so it was important to create an identity where the author felt safe and respected. A positioning was developed focusing on the safe journey from the authors’ text to the finished, professionally printed, book. An illustration style was derived from the same positioning. The lines in the illustrations refers to both how sentences and how pages are sketched. The thicker black line indicate the book cover, black and white suggest paper and ink. The illustration is often paired with a coloured rectangle, hinting at all the variable sizes books can be printed.
