It was originally called a “tee-shirt” because when you spread the University of tennessee lady vol softball sec champions shirt and I will buy this arms out (as short as they are) it resembles the letter “T.” Over time, the “tee” got shortened to “T”… or at least that’s what I understand. Though the t-shirt was created in the early 20th century, it was rare to see it worn as anything other than an undershirt.
