Initial explorations

As we embarked on the creative journey of Hòra, we delved deep into the enchanting realm of the Héden, a place where magic and fruits intertwine. Here, we embarked on a quest to discover unique fruit shapes and styles, pushing the boundaries of conventional design. With each exploration, we tested an array of vibrant palettes, seeking the perfect combination that would make the Hora can truly shine. And in the end, we embraced a more neutral yet captivating version, adorned with cool textures that add depth and an irresistible coolness to the overall aesthetic. Imagine this epic moment: a radical stream of Hòra carries a squad of groovy fruits, catching waves and diving straight into the can. These styleframes became the heart and soul of character vibes, capturing the essence of each fruity friend. We've got the cheerful orange, the dynamic duo Sam and Buck, and even the cute feline, Zyncat. Get ready for an intense clash between vibrant colors and monochrome coolness, as they compete to highlight the juicy, three-dimensional forms of the fruits. THE OFFICE

It all began in the cozy confines of an office space, where we embarked on a journey to determine the perfect color palette, textures, and brush style. Initially, we explored a flattened perspective for the overall project, but through rigorous testing and experimentation, we made a course correction towards our final destination. An intriguing creative decision emerged: the adoption of a white aesthetic. Why, you ask? Because in the world of Hòra, the act of sipping this delightful elixir brings forth remarkable transformations. Plants flourish and thrive, desks are immaculately tidy, graphs soar to new heights, and every day becomes a little brighter. It's a visual testament to the magical powers of Hòra, where even the smallest sip can ignite a cascade of positive change.

Character Development

Lights, camera, action! Allow me to introduce the remarkable cast of our animated spectacle: the Hòra family. Bursting with vibrant colors, these fruits possess distinct personalities and unique props that reflect their individual tastes. Our spirited lemon is the life of the party, always eager to dive into the action. As for their shapes, we knew they couldn't be ordinary fruits. The orange boasts a stylish tuft of hair, while Sam and Buck, being male and female siblings, sport different forms. And let's not forget about Honey, whose ethereal nature transcends the confines of a solid body. What could be more fitting than a shape-shifting entity, effortlessly gliding through life like a skateboarding enthusiast en route to school? Together, this fruity ensemble brings joy, energy, and a dash of delightful eccentricity to the world of Hòra.

And let's not forget the diverse cast of human characters! In order to capture the universal appeal of Hòra, we ensured that our characters represented a wide range of ages and personalities. Meet Tim, the embodiment of youthful freshness, and Midori, the groovy guitarist with a rebellious spirit. Then there's Jamal, the embodiment of dedication, never missing a single training session. But we didn't stop there! Our whimsical imagination went beyond the boundaries of humanity, including martians, elephants, and even monster frogs. Who said Hòra was exclusively for humans? This eclectic mix of characters reflects the inclusive nature of our product, inviting everyone, from humans to otherworldly creatures, to experience the vibrant flavors and boundless energy of Hòra.

Testing played a pivotal role in this project, as we delved deeper into the intricate details of our crew. We meticulously crafted their distinctive features, their beloved objects, and even contemplated how they would eagerly reach out for the mythical Hòra can. Feast your eyes on these stunning exploratory sketches, where our imagination ran wild, bringing to life the essence and charm of each character.

3D FRUIT

In the early stages of the project, we had already decided that the fruit characters and the can itself would be created in 3D. This allowed us to make the product more recognizable as it made its debut in the market for the first time and add that extra touch to the ingredients, which would look super yummy with a photorealistic treatment.

So we dived into Blender and Substance Painter to model, texture, animate, and render the fruits that would bridge the gap between the beautiful 2D style frames we had and the colorful fruits we're accustomed to eating every day.

Styleframes

After having seen the Hòra world, could you now imagine it completely coloured? We did it for you. We tried plenty of versions for each scene.

We tested colors, settings, and styles until we reached this final version: a black and white static background that becomes alive when it comes to drinking Hòra.

Specific environment have been thoughtfully tailored for each character. Everyday-life scenes seem to end in a lack of energy caused by a stressful routine. Here's when Hòra comes into action, giving energy to your days and to what surrounds you.

Animation

As for many of our projects, even in this video we decided to use a mixed technique, made of frame-by-frame parts along with 3D and motion animation. Frame-by-frame has been used as a reference for the 3D animation. This choice allowed better and more natural movements of the characters with their 3D fruity bodies. Let's have a look at some BTS!

We tried a couple of different 3D softwares, but we end up falling in love with Blender.
It has been our best friend: versatile, complete, full of possibilities and tools to experiment with, in order to obtain the perfect 3D model. Including tridimensional objects such as fruits in Hòra can bring a project to the next level.
