A special artwork for 2022 Sarawak Day. With Melanau traditional house as background, a couple seen donning Melanau traditional costume - black satin blouse (which quite resembles to Malay woman traditional clothes Baju Kurung), sarong Songket Sarawak completes with red embroided chest decoration, Pending - a large rope belt, pendant and headgear for women.
As for men, a strong resemblance to Malay men traditional outfit Baju Melayu - a black satin fabric tunic cut jacket, embroided with flowers completes with Samping and a Javanese style headgear.
The Melanau or A-Likao is an ethnic group indigenous to Sarawak, Malaysia and were among the region's earliest settlers.
