This is the 6th project for my typography class, where we create our own music artist through type. Creating a font that is able to capture whatever artist we are emulating's style, sound and feel. I started with drawing every letter and character out by hand (lost the other papers), then traced everything over in adobe illustrator. From here I individually exported each character as a svg file, downloaded an application called "BIRDFONT" that allowed me to import and export as ttf files. The qualities of the artist I chose (Frank Ocean) are that of a mysterious, simplistic yet bigger than life persona. My artist is a secretive person but popular due to the nature of their work. Everyone knows who they are but rarely see them out. A private person that is contradictive because of the vulnerability in the music. Which is why I chose lighter colors with the exception of the poster. The embossed and 3D text showcasing the noise this artist is able to raise with very minimalistic style.
