Lili town, once known as Lihua (Pear Blossom) village and neighboring Luxu ancient town in the east, is a captivating old river town hidden in Suzhou’s corner of Wujiang district and has been notable for its picturesque landscape and historic relics such as distinctive old valleys and antiquated architecture. It is primitive, beautiful, elegant, and serene, and is said to be the most authentic waterside ancient town in the southern Yangtze River area. The town is crisscrossed by numerous rivers, lakes, and ponds, making it a land of fish and rice.
