How do you tell the story of over 5000 hand-drawn
NFTs in around 30 seconds and keep your sanity?
Pigeon Studio to the rescue 🚀
About
Buddy Bucks is the first NFT art project of its type. No shortcuts. No generated content. Thousands of art were hand-drawn on Instagram stories. They're dark, quirky, humorous, and hellishly expressive. Our job? Translate them into an animated video.
By exploring style through the inner child's lens, we've loosened our grasp on style.
First, we chose the most distinctive of Buddy Bucks's characters. Then, we brought to life the story of financial freedom, the pursuit of happiness, love and relationships, as well as concepts of time.
Welp, Twitter, and social media channels just got themselves
a little more thought-provoking content.
Style
For animation, we redrew the characters and came up with the settings that would go well with the minimalist, yet expressive style. What were we looking for? A sketchy feel. Wiggly lines. Imperfections.
All the things that are normally discarded in standard animation found redemption in the Buddy Bucks project.
Animation
Buddy Bucks is our first fully traditionally animated piece in years (and by fully, we mean FULLY).
Every frame was carefully planned and crafted.
Those of you accustomed to animation will be happy to hear that we went with the seldom-used straight-ahead method, by which the animation is less planned but far more expressive. A risk worth taking.
Sounds?
Obviously recorded by the team. Because why not?
