DC Shoes United - I was approached by Advanced Photoshop Magazine to explain the creation of this composition with the combination of stock images and 3D elemnts.
DC Shoes United: Final Result
I wanted to create something energetic, powerful and fun mixing stock images and 3D elements.
Creating custom brushes has always been a must for my works and I wanted the final image to have a “tech” look.
After Removing the background of all the objects I needed and isolating them, I started incorporating them in a way that could make the image flow towards certain side of the screen.
I Added a layer style to the lettering of the shoe so it could give a more powerful effect and not just a plain text.
Multiple image adjustments such as brightness and contrast, shadows and highlights and hue and saturation were made to correct some colors of the image and pop out more the yellow that I wanted to accomplish.
A cool effect easy to accomplish is the 3D effect. Adding elements at the top layers of the image and blurring them out will give a 3D look and a cool kind field of depth.
Adding highlights and shadows with the dodge and burn is a very cool and effective technique, giving the image a more realistic look.
For the final steps, I wanted to add some shapes and path strokes to give the image more details.
I like using different kind of shapes and custom brushes because it gives a more organic look to the image and adds a flow to it, giving the feel as it is moving in one direction and it’s not just a static image in the end.
