CO&KAIN is a brand which I created for my final year project at LASALLE College of the Arts. My aim for this brand is to raise awareness on the dying motifs and symbols of traditional Indonesian textiles today by communicating the cloths in a more contemporary fashion language. Therefore, I want to identify CO&KAIN as a brand which focuses on traditional Indonesian textiles: because I researched specifically on the motifs and meanings of these textiles I decided to use them throughout the branding stationary. I chose the very majestic motif of the Parang Batik, Ulos Sadum and Geringsing Cempaka and paired them with the colours black, white and maroon. According to the Batak tribe of North Sumatra, the colour black represents infinity, white represents purity whilst maroon represents bravery.
