An illustration I did about two years ago, inspired by the myth/folktale of "Die Grootslang"
For those who may not know the tale: "Die Grootslang" is a folktale from the Khoisan & Nama people of South Africa. It tells the story of a primordial snake that resides in the Orange River. As a shapeshifter it changes into a young maiden that lures men to the river in order to drown them. It also has a diamond that rests on its head and the only way one can survive its wrath is to offer it diamonds.
