WeKanSkate Project

The Western Kansas Skate Project (WeKanSkate) seeks to raise awareness for skateboarders and the need for an updated skatepark in Hays, Kansas. The WeKanSkate project has also created a committee to work with the city of Hays. The WeKanSkate committee has been working with designers and builders to create an updated skatepark.
The immediate goal of the logo is to create a sense of unity. The icon was created to show small pieces creating a larger picture. In this case, the simple shape of a skateboard was broken down. The smaller alternate logo uses typography to reference a set of stairs, which is commonly used to skate on.

The color pallet was also based of of common colors throughout Kansas. The idea of bright sunny days, and clear blue skies was an instant inspiration from the scenery of Kansas. Both of these outdoor elements help reinforce the idea to go outside and play.

The concept of the illustration is fairly straightforward as well. The images is shows that everyone can have fun using the updated facility. It was created in the original color pallet as well, featuring excited subjects riding a single skateboard.

The profits made from the shirts will be used toward the fundraiser as well.

Any donations will go directly to funding skatepark renviations in Hays Kansas. To learn more about how you can help the project, visit www.wekanskate.com.
