Director of Public Health’s Annual Report
This new report is set to become an annual publication by Derby City Council. The report includes figures and facts about general lifestyle and well being of the citizens of Derby and how they spend their time.
We were asked to design a series of infographics on different aspects of health. All of the infographics were to be used on the website, as well as in printed format, in both colour and black and white.

As with the nature of the data highlighting some less desirable aspects to living in Derby, it was imperative that we were highly selective about what kinds of images and we used and how we used them. Having gone through multiple changes and revisions from senior members of staff, we reached a balance that displays the data in a fun and creative way, ensuring both that the content is informative and approachable.
Each section came with a differing amount of data, so use of grid was instrumental in allowing us to not only keep continuity between each of the sections as a whole, but allowing each page to work alone as a single standalone page.
Another aspect of the project we had to consider was the possible printing limitations that Derby City Council would face. In order to combat this, we designed three separate grayscale versions that were tested on the printers which would be used for the document. This allowed us to rule out any of the printing complications before they would occur.
