How do you know you're getting older? Book project.

In my work I wanted to draw attention to the fact that we are all ageing and let the viewer make their own connections with these news stories and causes.

My practice includes gathering thoughts and opinions from others directly affected by or with experience of my concern. I use the information to inform the work, or integrate it into the final piece. For this project I wanted a wide variety of input from people across the age groups so I created an online questionnaire, which was distributed via online channels that would reach various demographics. When the project was instigated I was unsure how I would use the participants answers; I waited for the responses to inform my work and in this case it was using the actual answers to create copy for a book.

The book was featured at the 2014 Internation Contemporary Artists Book Fair, where 40 visitors added their views to the box - enough for another book.
