Célom volt egy formailag egységes dugóhúzó létrehozása, mely ikonikus nyomot hagy a parafadugón, és Budapest különböző éttermeiben van használatban. Az eltérés az egyes darabok között csupán az eszköz alsó részén található gumi jelölőszerkezet, amelynek mindegyike az adott étterem stílusához, arculatához illő jelet hagy a dugón. Ezzel azokat az embereket szerettem volna megcélozni, akik gyakran töltik el ebédjüket/vacsorájukat éttermekben, és tudatos borfogyasztóként gyűjtik az általuk elfogyasztott borok parafadugóit. A dugóhúzómnak köszönhetően a későbbiekben nem csak azt láthatják az összegyűjtött dugóikon, hogy milyen fajta bort fogyasztottak el, hanem azt is, hogy hol, melyik elegáns étteremben.

A tervezés során kétféle anyagot használtam fel: acélt és kötelet. E két anyag ellentétes tulajdonságokkal bír, akár a bor és a palackja. Ahogy a palack élettelen csakúgy, mint az acél, úgy a bor élettel teli, mint a természetes kötél. Felbontatlan állapotban a szilárd palack körülöleli az élő bort, és a bor felveszi a palack alakját. Miután kihúztuk a dugót, e viszony megváltozik, és a bor szabad utat kap. A dugóhúzóm esetében a természetes kötél öleli körül a szilárd acélt, utalva ezzel a palack és a bor felbontás utáni megváltozott viszonyára.

My aim was to create a formally cohesive corkscrew that leaves an individual signature on the cork. The corkscrew was designed with the intentions of being used in some of the most esteemed restaurants within Budapest. The lower piece of the tool is designed so that each restaurant can have a unique symbol that is suitable for their image and style imprinted onto the cork. This product is intended for the wine lover, someone who regularly dines out and appreciates good quality wine. This corkscrew would allow the consumer to remember not only the great bottle of wine they drank , but by looking at the symbol imbedded onto the cork they will remember where they enjoyed the bottle.

During the creating process I used two kinds of material : steel and rope. These two materials have opposite properties much like wine and the bottle it is stored in. As the bottle is inorganic like the steel, the wine is organic like the natural rope. In it’s unopened form the solid bottle encompass the organic wine which molds it’s shape to the bottle. After pulling out the cork the relationship changes, the wine can now flow freely. In the case of this corkscrew the organic rope surrounds the solid steel , very similar to the wine and bottle once the cork has been removed.
