VERNISSAGE POSTER - DAWSON ILLUSTRATION 2023
In my final semester of CEGEP, each graduating student was given the opportunity to design a poster for our graduation vernissage. A winning illustration was then voted on by the group. For this project, I attempted to create a poster that reflected my personal art style and interests, while still being universal enough to appeal to a large audience. I aimed to create an image that felt mysterious, that would make the onlooker want to look closer. In the end, my design was voted to represent the occasion, and appeared on a variety of material promoting the vernissage.

Pendant ma dernière semestre au CÉGEP, chaque étudiant finissant a eu la chance de créer une affiche pour notre vernissage de graduation. Après, une illustration gagnante était voté par la groupe. Pour ce projet, j'ai essayé de créer une affiche qui reflète mon style artistique personnel et mes intérêts, mais tout en restante assez universelle pour qu'il peut plaire un large public. Je visais à créer une image mystérieuse, qui va encourager les spectateurs à regarder de plus près. En fin, mon illustration était voter pour representer l'occasion, et s'est apparue sur plusieurs matériaux promotionnels pour le vernissage.

First, I began by laying out rough sketches, in order to quickly explore different concepts. I especially focused on nature themes, with a simple background and a central focus.

Premièrement, j'ai commencé par dessiné des ébauches, pour explorer rapidement des concepts différents. J'ai concentré sur des thèmes naturalistes en particulier, avec un fond simple et une mise au point centrale.
THE SKETCHES - LES CROQUIS
Of the six sketches I did, I was most drawn to the one on the bottom left, with the girl and the jellyfish. However, I was unsatisfied with the composition, so I created a revised version of the concept.

Des six croquis réalisés, j'étais le plus attiré par l'un en bas à gauche, avec la fille et la méduse. Mais je n'étais pas satisfier avec le composition, alors j'ai crée une version révisée.

Next was clean line art. Following that, all I had to do was paint, paint, and paint some more.

Finally, I found two complimentary typefaces that matched the look and feel of my poster. With the title added, my poster was completed.
Dernièrement, j'ai trouvé deux polices de caractères complémentaires assorties avec l'apparence de mon poster. Avec le titre ajouté, l'affiche était finit.
