Boreland IPA branding
This set of designs looks at a variety of names and designs that broaden the original brief, positioning the IPA as a potential ‘standalone’ product, available in different locations.
I got creative with these, had some fun and I hope customers would recognise and choose them for the same reason.
Design 01 - Wee Brew
If there were ever a beer name to start a conversation, then it would be the WeeBrew. Thankfully, a beer brand that doesn’t ‘do what it says on the tin’. A more modern, sharp design with a more familiar tone.
Creating familiarity for those who will eventually come and stay at Boreland, perfect for serving up in the WeeBarn.

Design 02 - Colloquial fun
Employing the more colourful side of the visual language of the brand. We can see these colourful conversation-starters being served at Weddings (with corkage charged, of course!) resulting in double profit - a cut of the proceeds of the beer, plus the fee for serving it. Ker-ching.
More importantly, there’s a whole series of potential sloshed-slang just waiting for the next flavour to be released.
Design 03 - Colloquial fun
This concept plays with local sayings as a way of naming the flavours, creating talking points around sharing the beer. Most importantly, in the spirit of Boreland - it’s just about making Good Times Easy (and fun!).
The Boreland brand itself takes a step back here, but is still confidently represented with the iconic B avatar.
We hope that this one will drive more people to read the back of the label and seek out more detail, to discover who’s behind this tasty tipple.
Design 04 - Brewland
Next up is ‘Brewland’.
An iconic name if ever I’ve heard one. This one could be a Blockbuster. Again, incorporating a modern and minimal application of the visual language. The name suggests a more confident and fun association with the territory of Boreland and the ‘home of brew’.
Here’s a second iteration of the Brewland. Presented in a stronger visual of the semaphore language.
This one is more exclusive and you’d be forgiven for expecting to see this in a high-end hotel (such as The Dalmahoy!).
Design 05 - Boreland Brew
We finish safely with, ‘Boreland Brew’.
The design still revolves around the Boreland core brand look but uses an iconic badge design to establish it as a unique product.
The secondary map design detail is a nice touch, subtly referencing the Boreland experience.
