I also helped plan the logistic part of this AR production from scratch. Below is a high level timeline chat I build for the team.
The fun part starts here, I was brainstorming on how to create these characters for making the AR filter that comes with this coloring book. We want to hit the theme of protecting the earth, and accentuate the connection in between human with nature. The idea of " hugging " just feels right, the world was in a crazy place during the pandemic, spreading empathy for the work was our goal for this coloring book project. So I started drawing out nature hugging human or vice versa.
I kept on exploring the different look of the characters. Then one day, the wood block idea just felt right for me. So I created this two character using the physical constrain of the wood block.
Here comes my specialty, creating the 3D characters based on my 2D design.
We got some animation help from Paola Chen and Bill Dorais, both of them really help us get to the finish line of the animation production.
In conjunction of the character development, we dive deep into some user experience design. I created the following infographics to demonstrate my design thinking:
To help illustrate the whole AR activation process, I also made a quick storyboard for the team. This really help speed up the communication.
