Borna is a display typeface and is designed to be used in body texts.
The typeface is inspired by Maghrebi Kufic script, and since it has its own unique personality, it is easily distinguished from other body text typefaces. Borna is coming from children's and teenager’s world and it’s going to find its way to stories in short texts.
It is nice and friendly, but a little active and playful. The ups and downs in teeth, the turns in bowls, the twists in forms, and the big counters, give the typeface a live and active personality.
Wide grooves, big bowls compared to the widths, and flowing forms are some of other Borna’s features. Also, swash forms in some letters and functional alternatives, gives designers various possible compositions.
The withd’s contrasts are designed reversed so they match the Latin typeface in order to bring more harmony in bilingual body texts.
The Latin typeface Arima Madurai from Google Fonts, designed by Natanael Gama Correia, was chosen for the Latin version of Borna and its other weights were redesigned to go with Borna.
Borna Typeface with seven weights of Thin, light, Regular, Medium, Bold, Extra Bold, Black, also covers Arabic, Kurdish, and Urdu languages.
بُرنا تایپی با ظاهری نمایشی است و برای استفاده در متن طراحی شده است.
منشأ شکل‌گیری‌اش کوفی مغربی است و با روحیه‌ای که در خود دارد از سایر فونت‌های ویژه‌ی متن قابل تشخیص و تمایز است.
بُرنا از دنیای کودکان و نوجوانان می‌آید و قصد دارد به میان داستان‌ها و متن‌های کوتاه راه پیدا کند.
دوستانه و صمیمی است. اما کمی شیطنت و بازیگوشی دارد. جست و خیز در دندانه‌ها، چرخش در کاسه‌ها، پیچ و تاب در فرم‌ها و درشت بودن چشم‌ها حس پویایی و جنب و جوش را به فونت داده است.
فاق‌های باز، دور زیاد حروف نسبت به سطح آن و فرم‌های سیال، از ویژگی‌های دیگر بُرنا است. همچنین طراحی فرم‌های کشیده در برخی حروف و جایگزین‌های پرکاربرد، ترکیب‌های متنوعی را در اختیار طراحان قرار می‌دهد.
کنتراست ضخامت بصورت معکوس طراحی شده تا با نوشتار لاتین هماهنگ باشد و هارمونی بیشتری را در متن‌های دو زبانه ایفا کند.
فونت لاتین Arima Madurai از Google Fonts با طراحی Natanael Gama, Joana Correia برای همراهی با بُرنا انتخاب شده و برای هماهنگی بیشتر نیز سایر وزن‌ها بازتولید شده‌اند.
فونت بُرنا با ۷ وزن زبان‌های عربی، کردی و اردو را نیز پوشش می‌دهد.
