Cultural Heritage Game Jam
RANDO BANDO was assembled to work on behalf of a very relevant matter: raising awareness about the value of preserving and protecting every cultural heritage. This happened in the form of a game jam organized by Global Game Jam, in partnership with the U.S. State Dept. and Cultural Heritage Coordinating Commitee
Our goal, beyond exploring the event's visual ID, was to convey through an engaging animation the four themes of the game jam:
◆ Help disrupt cultural heritage looting, theft, trafficking, and destruction;
◆ Reinforce the importance of protecting and preserving cultural heritage;
◆ Educate about the effects of climate change on cultural heritage;
◆ Celebrate diverse cultural art, artifacts, traditions, and places.
Putting the fragments together.
Using collage helped us to convey the historical meaning that "cultural heritage" usually carries. This style also brings to the table the physical aspect of global cultures, with their art pieces, tools, fabrics, symbols and written records.

The journey of an artifact.
The intro animation, apart from presenting the Game Jam, had the goal of illustrating 4 of the event cornerstones, as shown in the storyboard bellow:
- Help disrupt CH (cultural heritage) looting, theft, trafficking and destruction;
- Reinforce the importance of protecting and preserving CH;
- Educate about the effects of climate change on CH;
- Celebrate diverse cltural art, artifacts, traditions and places
Our approach was to organize them in an order that could turn into a narrative. Starting by the most iconic figures - the tomb raiders - we follow a possible jorney for cultural artifacts.
