✦ Background
I was working on Christmas products and during that time, I wrote a lot of English calligraphy. As I was looking at it, I suddenly felt that calligraphy has a sense of coherence, speed, and even a spatial dimension that seems to break away from the flat plane. It felt like I had never attempted this in my previous works.
✦ Upon that
I decided to draw and write more and combine Western elements with Eastern characters. Without much thought, I chose to use the words "香港" (Hong Kong) and named this set of works "Pearl of the Orient."
