Project 4: Microsite Design

Client: CrashPlan

Scope: B

Audience: 18-22 year old college students

Topic: Promote this data-backup service to an audiene who has probably never thought about backing up their files.

Ask: Convince college students to purchase a plan to back up their files from CrashPlan.

Brief: To create a microsite that catches the eye of younger users and shows them not only the benefits of backing up their files, but, also plans that fit their student budget. This way they have the peace of knowing their work is safe, in the event of theft or hardware crash.

Current CrashPlan website below.
Below is some website inspiration for how I'd like to re-design CrashPlan. Since I am trying to convince young college students to backup their work, I think it would be more eye catching and intriguing if I added in some more color, fun type and unique placements. Just because it's a backup site, doesn't mean it needs to be boring.
Below are a couple of CrashPlan's competitors, I'll be honest and say that their top competitor is BackBlaze. They offer a lot of options for a lower price and have a more descriptive and easier to navigate site. BUT this is what I'm going to help CrashPlan with.
After gathering information from my surveys, I realized that most art and design college students simply want unlimited storage, calendar reminders, and student discounts.
With that being said, I wanted to create copy that was relatable to college students so they'd not only feel seen/heard but to give them a slight laugh. Below is just a start to my wireframes for the website with some design student humor. The photo that would be next to the headline would be an error message or possibly "file cannot be found" with a "due today" or something added.

We shall see where I go from here.
So after further class discussion, instead of the the three titled subheads, I went ahead and made them their own headlines, and they would be on a timed carousel shown below:

(keep in mind that these are only wireframes and not detailed webpages)
And here's an example of how it would look mocked up:
Below is all of the copy concepts together, with a little extra splash of icon love to represent each headline, and the fact that as art and design students, there's always multiple tabs, icons, and concepts open in our brain at one time.
