For my minor 'Immersive Storytelling' at the art academy in Breda I made an immersive storytelling installation. Using beamers and shadows, I created an interactive experience that allowed participants to step into historic events and play an active role.

The installation was designed to transport participants to different times and places, giving them a chance to experience history firsthand. By using the light from the beamer to create shadows, I was able to create a unique and engaging atmosphere that allowed participants to feel fully immersed in the story.

To make the experience as interactive as possible (without it being interactive), I created a series of different scenarios, each with its own unique set of challenges and tasks.

The historic event that I used for this immersive installation is the story of 'The peat barge of Breda' (Het turfschip van Breda) which took place in the 16th century. The participants played the role of Charles de Héraugière (the commander) and had to lead the mission to take back the city from the Spanish soldiers.
