MINIATURES
Initially, to quickly establish the location setting in the future, we discussed having the camera fly in, over the top of the destroyed remains of the Hollywood sign..  Unfortunately, it was discovered that, in order to use the likeness of the Hollywood sign, no matter what state of ruin it might be, it would cost a small fortune in licensing fees!

This was an unanticipated problem, and people were scrambling to try to figure out what to do.  I suggested we build a wrecked version of the iconic Capital Records building!  "There's no way we can afford to make something like that", said the project lead...  I replied, "Why not?  All you need is a stack of foil pie pans, and some sticks!" (I couldn't see a better way to explain my idea, but he was convinced!  Obviously, we would need much larger pie pans but, that's essentially all it is!)

And, just for fun, I made an Angeline billboard, you can just barely see, across the street from Capital Records.  Both of those things are about as Hollywood as it gets, after the Hollywood sign.

While they are not obvious, there are skeletons everywhere, posed in all kinds of goofy ways, some are helping each other climb out of a wrecked school bus, some are sitting on bus stop benches, some are being mugged...  All of them, frozen - or fried - in place at the moment the bomb went off and destroyed the city.  There are also a huge number of little beavers all around, peering around corners, looking through windows and doors, etc.

SOMETHING I ONLY RECENTLY NOTICED...
This incredible detail probably goes unnoticed by most of the audience.  I only became aware of it, myself, when putting these images together for this website.  While it wouldn't likely be a showstopper if it were not there, it certainly shows just how committed to authenticity, story, and how time portals might actually work, if they existed!  Have you figured it out, yet?

When a portal opens, it becomes the connection between the future and the present. In this case, when the T-1000 steps through the portal from our present, into the future, we get a brief glimpse of the world he is leaving behind...  See it, yet?  It is the audience in the theatre, wearing their 3-D glasses!

Things like this are the reason James Cameron and Gary Goddard are considered two of the most imaginative, brilliant minds in the entertainment industry!

CYBERDYNE
The Cyberdyne pyramid was made of Birch Plywood, attached to a steel, metal frame.  It was covered in a variety of paper and plastic textures that were laminated to sheet PVC, and then shaped using a router.

I was the model builder in charge of maintaining all of the lighting assets on the Hunter-Killer miniature, during filming on the motion control stage.  The process of filming a miniature with motion control takes many hours, and can be quite stressful when an internal ship light burns out!
