After being asked to consider the future of the book, I designed an "eBook" cover for George Saunders collection of short stories entitled The Tenth of December.

 

The idea is that when the technology is there, the viewer will be able to interact with the flame and blowing on the screen will make it flicker in different directions. However, it never goes out because of the characters' decision to never quite give up all the way.

 

Although people speculate about the "death of print", I believe it is simply evolving and technology just allows for components that can supplement the print. Digital books open up possibilties to be taken advantage of and explored and should be made just as interesting as their print counterparts.
