Rei Kimiko Oboro is a character I designed in created to compliment the lore and backstory of a previous character, Yomi Oboro. Rei is the youngest of the Oboro sisters (there are three), but is quite different from her older siblings. While Yomi is reserved, stoic, and calm, Rei is outgoing, cheerful, and lighthearted. However, don't let her outward appearance fool you. While Rei may be charming, she is a member of the Oboro clan; she's a killer in nature.

While creating Rei, I wanted to approach her design in a very similar way to Yomi's, that is, keep two axioms in mind. Yomi's defining characteritics were agility and ferocity, the traits of a cold-blooded assassin. For Rei, I wanted her outstanding attributes to be: beauty and deceipt. She is a killer, like Yomi, but she operates in a very different fashion. Whereas Yomi would prefer to never let her target see her, Rei instead chooses the exact opposite. Allow your target to see you plain as day, win their trust, then twist the blade when they least expect it.

For beauty, I wanted Rei to appear much more feminine than Yomi (not to say Yomi is masculine). In order to achieve this, I took careful note to make her look graceful, and delicate. For this reason, I chose traits that appeared "light," such as her flaxen hair, ice blue eyes, petite frame, and the dark, flowing fabric of her attire. Additionally, I wanted to make sure her armor matched her personality

If she was to be an agent of espionage and deception, her gear shouldn't look like actual "gear". Instead, her equipment needed to be able to blend in as natural clothing, while also showing characterisitcs that could prove useful in combat (such as her harness). Much like a beautiful female secret agent of a 1960's Bond film, Rei needed to stand out enough to catch her target's eye, while also looking like she belonged in a public space.
