Process & Product
I so enjoyed drawing Poet Philip Larkin for The Economist, thought I'd share the process!
Step 1) gather the photos
what a face!! I like the clear one with the stripes best for my primary reference, so I put that one up right, next to where I will be sketching
Step 2) sketch!
Step 3) convert to vector. Image is sent from Photoshop to Illustrator and traced. No manilla needed here, that will be re-introduced in final stage
step 4) vector highlights added
and voilá! Mr. Philip Larkin!
