Critic Magazine Illustrative Work

Critic Magazine Work
Works made for the 'Critic' student magazine, Dunedin, NZ
While I was Studying Graphic Design (at Otago University) I approached the "Critic" Magazine to make a Weekly comic. Initially this was a project that I did along side my brother. He would write the comics and I woujld illustrate them. However, in later years I did the writing myself.
After some time I was asked to make illustrative covers for the magazine.
What I have to show here are a few of the comics that I did along with the illustrative covers. All of these works are ink on paper (then scanned to digital format).

Enjoy :)
At first, I had some issues with visual flow, and communication, but once I had created a central character I was able to focus more on the narrative behind each 'episode'. The Idea was to have this "geoff" guy who dealt with issues that we all did (as students) but on a more extreme level.
So there are a lot of 'in-jokes" and things that are audience specific.
This "geoff hates" series went for three years ('06-'08, with about 16 episodes each year) and I only did the two covers. Had I not moved away from Dunedin I believe I would still have some contribution to the "Critic".
