Yorkshire Dialect App - Celebrating Dialect

Brief: Celebrate the beauty and uniqueness of dialect.

Concept: Being from Yorkshire every time I come into contact with people not from Yorkshire the accent proves to be the thing most people focus on and question and enjoy. I wanted to create something for those who don't understand our sayings and accents.

Solution: Instead of just doing a dictionary I created a translator app. Written mostly in dialect and for use by people not from Yorkshire. Users can type or speak to it and get their dialect problems answered, see what others struggle with and what thier faviourite words are.

App: The app in the the colours of the Yorkshire flag. The logo is a map of the Yorkshire boundaries and the title "Yer Wha?" translating to "You what?" = "What did you say?"
Promo Vid: To go alongside the app I wanted to create a promotional video to advertise the app. It takes the same light hearted sense of humor with the language ("Congratulations") and images. It is supposed to mimik stereotypes, pride, culture and sense of humor.
Print Ads: To promote the app round Yorkshire simple posters displaying popular Dialect sayings will be placed in public areas/tourist places ect. The logo is displayed in the bottom corner, leading people who don't understand the posters to the app.
