The relation between nature and human being

The relation between nature and human being: Agnieszka Lepka
Lepka is a young photographer from Cracow recently achieved her photography diploma at the General School of Fine Arts in Zielona Gora. Her latest project, Human vs Nature, compares the typical details of our bodies with the details of elements found in nature. It serves as a reminder to us about our close link with nature- we seemingly forget we are merely animals born from the earth.
The colours in her photographs are subtle and fleshy, mostly muted or natural colours, with sublime pops of purple and orange.
She focuses on the forms present in nature and the textures of our skin, cleverly comparing them in like for like images where she manages to catch details that mirror each other with incredible similarity. For example, the top right diptych likens the veins on an eyeball to lightning in a stormy sky. The main lightning bolt strikes in the same direction as the dark long vein in the eye, even tapering off in the same direction. The lightning bolt parallel to the main one also follows the same direction as the skin surrounding the eye; the darkness of the cloud on the left is mimicked by the darkness of the iris and eyelashes. The photos are not a perfect match but the resemblance between them is striking and suggests a great eye for detail.
The repetition of patterns on a scale as small as our irises and fingertips, through galaxies serves as a reminder that no matter how unique we are, we will only ever be iterations of already existing/existed matter. Our relationship to the world around us dates back to the beginning of time, where the first cluster of stars created the blueprint for freckled faces billions of years down the line.
"We are not so different from the land we live in.
We are not so different from the nature that surrounds us."
