Altenburg which is located in Weimar on Jenaer Strasse is full of tradition and history. Franz Liszt lived here from 1848. It was made an intellectual focal point from 1848 to 1861 which became the intellectual focus of music, where beautiful notes always sounded.

Become a meeting place for top artists to gather. Once the hiding place of Richard Wagner, a politically persecuted revolutionary and composer. Center for intellectual exchange of artists and people interested in culture from within and outside the country.

There pianists, pianists, composers, conductors and music educators were taught by Franz Liszt free of charge and even hosted some of them in his house. Even today his name is associated with science and teaching in the city of Weimar. The Franz Liszt Music University used previous residences and works by the eponymouos composer for its then student lectures. The building still serves as the setting and stage for meetings, particularly the music scene, Liszt's research location and meeting place.
