MY MYOPIA: ISTD 2014

2014 International Society of Typographic Design Assessments Entry

"Everything about one thing"
This project explores the eye condition of shortsighted-ness, or Myopia as it is known. More specifically, it focuses on my personal experiences of the eye condition or ‘MYMYOPIA’ as I like to call it.

A dual narrative runs throughout the magazine. The primary narrative (red) tells of my personal experience of the condition, while the scientific narrative (teal) serves as an informative insight into the condition. The reader experiences both the factual and personal insights into Myopia. Both colours were chosen as they are also used by the OXO chart for testing sight.

The project was recently awarded a pass at the Irish assessments in April of this year.

*UPDATE: This project has also been Highly Commended in the Visual Communications Category
in the 2014 Student IDI Awards.*
This publication, MYMYOPIA is the third volume in the fictional series of magazines called ‘be-AWARE’. The series is an informative insight into conditions which affect many members of the public.
The publication is bound in keeping with the scientific nature its content. Paper fasteners are used to hint that some sort of administrative work is being carried out on scientific content contained within its pages.
The title of each section uses a line from the snellen (sight chart).
