                                               Design 1- Poverty
Poverty is considered the leading cause of hunger in Africa. More than half of all Africans live below the poverty line (on less than $1.50 a day) and more than three quarters reside in rural areas (United Nations).  My first design showcases a person consumed their baby and is directly shown in the stomach. While the empty piggy bank with a question mark showcases poverty and the uncertainty of money. The negative shape of the stomach is used to form the baby and conveys the idea of of the parent eating the child because as the parent who has no access to money is starving their child. They are essentially eating them as they are dying little by little each day from starvation.

Design 2- Mismanagement Of Water Resources

Mismanagement of water resources is another issue that affects hunger in Africa. My design showcases an empty stomach, a silhouette of a face, and a cracked water droplet coming out the stomach. The empty stomach and face is displaying the concept of hunger as no food is going into the stomach, therefore the stomach is empty. While the end shape of the stomach resembles a faucet. Which allows my design to present a visual image of mismanagement of water resources through a cracked droplet of water bursting out.

                                       Design 3- Land Degradation
In Africa land degradation is significant, counting for 46% of the total land area (AGNES). My last design focuses on land degradation and how that has affected hunger in Africa. Land degradation causes low food production and declining yields.  The design I created depicts a piece of cracked land forming into starving babies and children. In addition, skeleton rib cages are added to parts of the cracked land and the the cracked land lines create the negative space of the Africa continent.
