Scientific Illustration Recreation
The goal for this project was to recreate a historic scientific illustration with vector artwork. I chose this image of a fern from the 1897 book Favourite Flowers of Garden and Greenhouse because it has a simple form with complex detailing. My work mirrors that form, and by focusing on areas of color instead of biological divisions I successfully captured the tone. A difficult part of this piece was that the more similar the images became, the more subtle differences in detail I was able to notice.
