I want to look at the beautiful aspects of Dementia, to bring peace or comfort to those who see their loved ones with dementia and bring awareness. Keeping memories preserved in even their imperfect state. While showing what they see through a different more beautiful lens as one forgets.

The first sign of dementia is confusion presented by the blur in the first image and clutter. While dazed it shows the view from the photo as it is supposed to be the world in a beautiful state, as if seen for the first time.

To better represent confusion I use clutter, which causes you to lose what you’re looking for, everything is mixed and together. Thus I used this idea to represent the merging or missing memories as it is hard for people to be able to tell what has and has not happened.
Another way to represent the condition is handwriting begins to deteriorate. Even though it take months to years I wanted to show a deterioration in the planner and turn the scribbles into the clematis, the flower that inspired the project.
