The brief for this project was to design a poster around the word 'vent'. I chose to vent on the annual slaughter of thousands of dolphins in a cove off Taiji, Japan. I first heard about this horrific event in the film/documentary 'The Cove'.

The 'wall of sound' refers to a quote taken from the documentary, describing the technique the fishermen use to round up the dolphins, and I wrote a haiku (a Japanese form of poetry) about the dolphin massacre.

Echoing the layers of secrecy and meanings, the poster is made from a laser etched acrylic sheet with the text and images layered underneath.
Taiji fishermenorchestrate a wall of sound, cordon off the cove.
Harvest time is come.Spears impale water, flesh;Like bulls they see red.
Sonar squeals echo, the ghosts of dolphins past and
Humanity lost.
