Originally Kasubi was known as Nabulagala. Sometime after 1856, Ssekabaka Muteesa I of Buganda having met misfortune at Banda Hill relocated to Nabulagala. He renamed the hill Kasubi. Today, the place is interchangeably known as Kasubi-Nabulagala. The art is designed to promote another locality in Kampala, Uganda’s capital. The area is iconically represented by an illustrated grass thatched house established in 1882 also known as the Ssekabaka's Tombs.
