For this weeks assignment at DMJX we had to make a dynamic identity for a city. I chose Nanjing which is the capital of the Jiangsu province of China. There is a lot of dark history in Nanjing due to a mass murder in 1937 therefore there is a lot of depth and darkness in the city. But even in the darkest times there is something that blooms. The flower "Nanjing Gold" is named after city and blooms in Nanjing and in other places in China.

The flower can be used a different states of its blooming. Therefore I also made 4 different variations depending on which season you're in.

I dragged out colors from all the pictures to give an idea of which colors there often is represented in the city of Nanjing
Here you see the evolvement of the flower and the different states. Which is also the first sketches of the flower. After this I started to make the stem even longer so that it becomes more dynamic and can be used for different things and can fill out all kinds of stuff.
Here is the first version of my logo, which I like due to the simplicity. After this I made more different variations.
Here is some of the other versions of the logo, where I chose to also use the classical red color which in Chinese culture should mean a form for luck and is often used in bigger events.
Here you can see the logo in the different seasons so first from the left you see the flower in spring where it blooms. Here the colors are bright yellow, then it's summer where the flower becomes orange and in the autumn it turns red. In the winter it ends up becoming a green little bump.
