Photo Realistic Watch Project
Overview
My goal for this project was to recreate a watch in a photorealistic way using vectors. For my watch I chose the Tiffany Atlas 2 Hand 37.5 mm watch. Part of this project was also to learn how to use adobe tools to create depth, detail, and texture to create the image.
Sketches
To start out the project and to get an idea of how to tackle the detail, I started by sketching the components of the watch individually so I could get an idea of how to make the shapes in illustrator.
Mid Project Draft
The feedback I got from the draft was to take a deeper look into adobe's tools. I was trying to do too many things with one or two tools rather than using what was available to me. Learning how to use the "draw inside" tool was the biggest help for this project. I also took critique on looking at the deeper colors in the greys and how to find them to get more accurate tones.
Final Project
My image completes my objective because of all the detail and color accuracy in the watch. When making the watch found a high resolution photo and found the individual shapes in the piece I was trying to recreate. Then I matched the color and blending as seen in the photo. My biggest issue was trying to match the blends as it was sometimes hard to see where one color ended and the next one began. However I did enjoy this project as it taught me a lot of patience and skill I can now take in to my next projects.
