During my first semester at Western Technical College, my professor assigned a vector still-life project to familiarize us with Illustrator. I was limited to only using flat-color shapes to recreate the PlayStation controller. The still life taught me how to use many of the tools in Illustrator, primarily the pen tool. 

Below is the original photo of my PlayStation controller in a lightbox to use as a template and reference. 

The wireframe is a work of art in itself. All the lines showcase the number of flat-color shapes it took to recreate the controller. While working on this project, I learned much and will create more vector illustrations soon.
