My goal for this project was to create an imaginative environment that one could imagine themselves getting lost in or stumbling across. I struggled with the separation of the foreground, middleground, and background, which I solved by adding atmospheric perspective and fog-like effects. The glowing mushrooms act as porchlight for whoever happens to live in this tree.
These were the thumbnails for this project. There were a number of directions I wanted to go before finally settling on the forest. My thumbnails also have a breakdown of the basic values I ended up using.
