Bright Ideas

Moodboard
I came to the conclusion quite quickly that I wanted to use the colors blue, purple and pink. These are the colors that you are seeing in my moodboard. I kept seeing a lot of asian languages so I also decided I wanted Korean signs in my project.
Styleboard
For the style, I want to keep it more abstract. This is also because of limited time, but I still want to make it look a little realistic by making the light come alive. All the windows should give off a little light, of course not too much, because that would distract from the neon lights.
Sketches
The Project 'Bright Ideas' was actually quite a challenge with the start up. I had a hard time deciding what I wanted to create and I didn't know where to start with the sketching. After some frustration and trying out perspectives I decided I wanted to look into a city from a bird's eye perspective. I ended up with four sketches and it was very clear to me which one I liked the most.
The one on the left is the one I drew last and this was the one I liked most. It has different shapes and heights and lots of space for neon signs. I still was not satisfied with how it looked so I decided to re-do the sketch and make the perspectives make more sense. The neon signs were also way too boring so I had to work on that.

As you can see in my final sketch, I changed a few buildings and added more interesting neon signs with some color to make them pop. In the end it is all about the neon signs so they should pop out of the picture.

(Funfact: These are my first 'digital' sketches.)
As you can see in this sketch I had drawn more neon signs then there are in the final project. I chose not to put those in the picture so I can pull more attention to the front. With the neon signs in the back it would've been too much color.

This was a great project where I had the chance to practice my Adobe Photoshop skills. The start on this project was hard but I'm happy with the end result!
Research Photos
I also did some research on some neon signs but these absolutely didn't fit in the aesthetic I was going for. It did help a bit with creating the right amount of glow in my own neon signs.
