For my concept I wanted to design icons of survival objects needed in a zombie apocalypse. The icons range from weapons to ammo, to health and survival gear. My objective was to create icons that are clear as to what they are but also to what they represent. These are just a small fraction of what would be needed in that reality but I wanted to show some of the most iconic things someone would need to tackle spores, infected, and travel.

For my sketches I had a few different ideas about what icons I wanted to do. I switched between state flowers, birth flowers, zodiac signs, and hair products. Zombie apocalypse survival kit came from an interest in the genre and recent video games. I thought about the wide variety that came with the sets and how people use anything they can find to survive. I went off of ideas that are used throughout the genre and items I see consistently used. 

These were some early drafts I had that I posted to our class and received feedback on. I got lots of suggestions about lighting and contrast that I took into account when working on them more. I know I wanted some of my icons to so their age so I went deeper into adding aged elements such as rust, cracks, or the way a backpack settles when its been used. I also got told some feedback about lighting and adding some highlights and shadows to some of the icons.
