WHIPPED! – KAMPONG GELAM FEATURE
In this project, I was tasked to create a 16pp zine featuring the hidden gems in the realm of bakeries and desserts located within Kampong Gelam. The zine that I created centres around the magic of baking, where it serves to unite not just members of the family, but friends as well. I believe that the act of baking together has a bigger purpose than its outcome, to foster a love for good produce, as well as a love for the ones around you.
My zine features three bakeries located in Kampong Gelam today whose philosophies and stories revolve around a pure and mighty love for their family: All Things Delicious, Edith Patisserie and Julie Bakes. Their stories have inspired me to create a zine reminiscent of grandma's old recipe books – filled with scribbles and handwriting to evoke a homey and familiar feeling. A sense of friendliness and informality was injected purposefully in this scrapbook-like zine.
